Mark Weegman, Structural Frame Specialist, Weyerhaeuser Corp.

Mark will speak on engineered wood products, I-joists, rim boards, roof trusses, studs, headers, OSB and plywood sheathing.

Paul J. Ellringer, PE, CIH - Air Tamarack, Inc.
Paul is the owner of Air Tamarack Inc. a consulting company that has been performing autopsies involving moisture intrusion, structural defects and building code violations on hundreds of failing houses in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa.  Air Tamarack also oversees the construction of hundreds of rebuilds and new homes.

Paul's presentation: How do we build a durable house, which is also energy efficient?
The building code frequently just addresses R value in walls, ceilings and basements.  In the past twenty years we have had energy efficient houses but they have not been very durable.  We have a lot of unhappy homeowners and builders and many happy attorneys.  Homeowners and builders don't care about R value they want an energy efficient house that is also durable.  Is foam insulation the answer to this question?

Lee Moey and Mike Light, Ron The Sewer Rat
Ron the Sewer Rat was formed in 1972 by Ron Moey.  Ron has since handed the business down to his son Lee Moey.  Beginning at age 5, Lee grew up in the sewer cleaning business.  Lee and Mike will talk about the sewer cleaning business including, how to test and inspect sewers, how to discover sewer issues, how to correct problems, what to watch for, what to recommend to clients, etc.

Lee and Mike will also talk about a relatively new or newer phenomenon of cross boring other utilities through sewer lines. Perhaps you've heard about natural gas leaks and fires that have occurred in St. Paul, Edina, Ramsey, Eagan, and other cities.  We'll talk about this phenomenon and what to do if you suspect a problem caused by cross boring.

Jesse Trebil, Jesse Trebil Foundation Systems, Inc.
Jesse will speak to us about both concrete and wood foundations.  We'll discuss cracks, settlement, displacement and movement.  We'll discuss structural failure - what is it, how to recognize it, and how to report findings. We'll learn about repair options - wall anchors, foundation piers, jacking, and much more.

We'll also talk about what causes foundation cracks and settlement and what you can recommend to mitigate these issues.
